Termly General Meeting (Jun 4)

On Tuesday at 7:30PM in the Sandy Ashmore Room (MCR bar), we’ll be having our Termly General Meeting. This is an open meeting where you (the MCR members) can engage with your committee on any topic related to life at Churchill.

OBR – Cambridge President Vacancy (Deadline Jun 5)

Oxbridge Biotech Roundtable (, a rapidly expanding network promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in the life sciences is looking for a new Chapter President for the Cambridge chapter.  This position is for the 2013/2014 academic year, during which the President will lead and represent OBR in Cambridge and as an executive member of OBR.


The Chapter President has ultimate responsibility for all OBR activities within their chapter. These range from organizing events to managing consulting projects and overseeing inter-chapter communications, as well as establishing and maintaining partnerships with academic and industry groups. The chapter president is also responsible for representing Cambridge in OBR-wide activities and is an active member of the executive team, leading our 8 chapters and 8,000 members in the UK and USA.


The ideal candidate will be committed, a strong leader who delegates effectively and have excellent organizational and communication skills. Applicants should be graduate students or post docs at the University with an active interest in the biotech sector.


The role is a part time position and requires a commitment of 12-15 hours per week and a 12 month commitment. The successful candidate will start working alongside the outgoing president from mid June to ensure a smooth transition. This position is unpaid.


The OBR Chapter President role is an excellent career accelerator. It provides opportunities for networking with prominent members of the local life sciences community and building business development skills.

Open Eco Homes

Open Eco Homes is an opportunity to visit a variety of low energy homes in and around Cambridge. There are a variety of homes on show including old and new, big and small. No matter the age or size all our homes are warm, comfortable and energy efficient, and can demonstrate how to make your home the same. From cheap and simple behavioural changes and DIYs, to how to design a home to maximise insulation, air tightness and natural light, as well as all manner of eco technologies, Open Eco Homes will demonstrate the reality of giving your own home an energy makeover.

Open Eco Homes will see houses all over Cambridge opening their doors on June 15 and 23 to show off what they’ve done. And on June 7, we’ll also host Eco Renovation Question Time, your opportunity to quiz the experts, which will be held from 7.30pm at Emmanuel United Reformed Church, Trumpington Street, CB2 1RR.
