Vice-Chancellor’s Social Impact Awards!

Nominations for the Vice-Chancellor’s Social Impact Awards are closing soon!

The Vice-Chancellor’s Social Impact Awards are run by Cambridge Hub, to celebrate the students who have shown exceptional achievement and commitment to social change.

We’re looking for students who have shown ongoing commitment to a cause, inspired others to do the same, and made a real social or environmental impact in Cambridge

We believe this event assumes particular relevance this year to cultivate hope and inspire our community at these challenging times!

Are you committed to a cause? Have you been inspired by a friend’s socially impactful project? Do you admire someone in your college for their volunteering? We’d like to know!

Nominate either yourself or someone else here, or go to our website to find out more about the awards.

Winners will have the opportunity to:

– attend a virtual meeting with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, Stephen Toope, to celebrate their social action journey;

– receive tailored support from Cambridge Hub;

– share their successful social action journeys with others, through blogs and social media posts shared widely with university and community stakeholders.

The deadline to complete the nomination form is this week, and there’s no limit to how many people you can propose.

Impact Labs for PhDs: develop employability during “physical distancing”

Impact Labs www.cambridgehub.org/activities/impact-labs

Cambridge Hub runs the Impact Labs programme for PhDs, in partnership with the Careers Service. It is a team-based consultancy project where PhDs from different disciplines and years of study are presented with a challenge from local to Cambridge (and its environs) youth sector organisations. The challenge will aim to develop or improve the organisations’ impact measurement and management, a crucial area of work for the not for profit social impact sector, as it informs the development of their work and supports their ability to attract funding and partners. All PhD participants will receive training before they, as part of a team of at least 3, will have 6 weeks to conduct the necessary research and report on their findings.

Impact Labs is run twice a year, in 2019/20 the Lent term cohort has already completed their challenges successfully. Rather than cancel the Easter term Impact Labs we have decided to run the programme online so you do not have to be based in Cambridge to apply, but you can be. In addition to the recruitment and training of participants online, the PhD teams will engage with their community partners and each other virtually as well. You will have the opportunity to develop key employability skills such as teamwork, time management, problem-solving and one that is appearing in a growing number of job ads, remote working.

For more information and to apply, please visit www.cambridgehub.org/activities/impact-labs
If you have any queries please contact Isobel Sherlock, isobel.sherlock@cambridgehub.org at Cambridge Hub.
