Academic
If you are interested in expanding your knowledge, regular academic seminars are given by MCR members. Most talks that are given in the MCR are recorded and uploaded to the official Churchill College website as CHUtalks, so you can always catch up if you miss a date on the seminars calendar. Presenting an academic seminar can be a handy way of practicing your presentation skills and also of bringing a recording of your presentation to a professional platform, via CHUtalks. They are followed by wine and cheese in the Sandy Ashmore Room. You can also learn more about the research done by Churchill’s students at the annual Conference on Everything. If you are interested in taking part in either, please contact the Academic Officer.
Social
Being a graduate student is hard work. To help students unwind after a long day in the lab or library, the MCR organises a number of social events throughout the year. Even if nothing is planned, then there is always the MCR Bar. We have a mailing list if you interested in playing games. The most popular social events are the termly Guest Nights, which are always a lot of fun. If you have an idea for an event, please contact the Social Secretary or Bar Secretary as appropriate.
Sport
MCR members also engage in a variety of sports. College has a range of sports facilities, which can be enjoyed by any MCR member. Those who take things a bit more seriously might be interested in the opportunities offered by the University.
